In the days when the judges judged, there was a famine in the land. A certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to live in the country of Moab with his wife and his two sons.
וַ/יְהִ֗י בִּ/ימֵי֙ שְׁפֹ֣ט הַ/שֹּׁפְטִ֔ים וַ/יְהִ֥י רָעָ֖ב בָּ/אָ֑רֶץ וַ/יֵּ֨לֶךְ אִ֜ישׁ לֶ֣חֶם יְהוּדָ֗ה לָ/גוּר֙ בִּ/שְׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב ה֥וּא וְ/אִשְׁתּ֖/וֹ וּ/שְׁנֵ֥י בָנָֽי/ו׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ κρίνειν τοὺς κριτὰς καὶ ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ Βαιθλεεμ τῆς Ιουδα τοῦ παροικῆσαι ἐν ἀγρῷ Μωαβ αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ
ܘܗ̣ܘܐ ܒܝܘ̈ܡܝ ܕܝ̇ܢ̈ܐ. ܗ̣ܘܐ ܟܦܢܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ. ܘܐܙܠ ܓܒܪܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܠܚܡ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܠܡܥܡܪ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ. ܗ̣ܘ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܘܒ̈ܢܘܗܝ. ܡܛܠ ܕܥ̣ܫܢ ܟܦܢܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ
In diebus unius judicis, quando judices praeerant, facta est fames in terra. Abiitque homo de Bethlehem Juda, ut peregrinaretur in regione Moabitide cum uxore sua ac duobus liberis.
